Job Title: Stark County DSP

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential or community setting. The DSP promotes independence, dignity, and quality of life by assisting individuals with daily living skills, personal care, behavior management, and community integration.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care and supervision to individuals in accordance with their Individual Service Plans (ISP).
  • Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including personal hygiene, dressing, meal preparation, and medication administration.
  • Support individuals in achieving personal goals and increasing independence.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment.
  • Transport individuals to appointments, community outings, or work programs as needed.
  • Accurately complete documentation, incident reports, and daily progress notes.
  • Implement and follow behavior support plans as directed.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, guardians, and supervisory staff.
  • Participate in staff meetings and required training sessions.
  • Respond calmly and appropriately in emergency or behavioral situations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record (if transporting clients).
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Previous experience in caregiving or working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Work may include evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on client needs.
  • May involve exposure to challenging behaviors and situations requiring physical and emotional resilience.
